"Psychologists employ a whole slew of terms to describe
distortions that might creep into one’s thought process:
anchoring, confirmation bias, loss aversion, groupthink
and so on. It is a pleasure to know that my colleagues
and I share a common understanding around the existence
of such slips, and actively struggle to counter them
through a systematically different approach to problem
solving. No one has a perfectly clear mind, free from
all defects. That we recognize this and strive to
counter it is refreshing and rewarding, both to us and
our clients." |

"People
are all influenced by different external biases when it
comes to problem recognition and decision making. It has
been demonstrated, in addition to anecdotally, that
someone in a diverse group gets it right more
often with complex problems, because their model of the
problem and solution applies more accurately to the
issue at hand. But, if this potential solution is
initially dropped and then later shown to be correct,
these people are often denigrated because they 'failed'
to convince initially and therefore their coming up with
the solution is seen as irrelevant. Some organizations
have tried to create flatter and/or hybrid corporate
structures, but with limited success. Worse yet, while
an organization is stuck with an inferior solution,
nothing is done to prevent this flaw in decision-making
from happening again. Part of the Surje Integrated
Process directly addresses the situation just described.
By allowing the optimal solution emerge out of personal
biases and often conflicting models, clients get vastly
superior outcomes." |

"It is easy
to dismiss the need for help when attempting to solve
non-technical strategic problems. However, many
companies struggle with finding consistent strategic
success. The consistent application of a rigorous,
robust, and scientifically sound decision making
approach, such as that employed by Surje & Company, can
help take the mystery out of successful decision making. Surje &
Company is truly on the forefront of helping businesses
succeed through better business design and
integrative problem solving." |
